Staff Information Amy Varghese, Office ManagerAmy, a Certified Chiropractor's Assistant since 2005, and with Dr. Thomas for almost 6 years said, "Patient comfort comes first. From the time they walk in to the time they leave, we want to go beyond their expectations." "We try to make each person feel like they are our most important patient. We do everything we can to accommodate them," said Amy. A hair stylist for 13 years and a bridal consultant for 3 1/2, Amy has been married since 1997 to Issac. Dr. Thomas talked about Amy with a smile. "Amy was a Godsend. She's amazing with the patients. People look forward to hearing her voice when they call the clinic. She has a lot of empathy. She's like the mother of the clinic."
Makeita Davis, LMT Certified Massage TherapistGraduated July 2007 from Everest Institute in Massage Therapy, Makeita Davis offers 1/2 hour, hour and two-hour massages, including Deep Tissue, Swedish, stretching and reflexology. She assists Dr. Thomas in neuromuscular therapy including Dr. Thomas' muscle stripping protocol. "I like making people feel good. I like to help people get better. My main focus is the client, helping them mentally, physically and in life," said Makeita. Makeita relies strongly on faith and family. She loves to read, and watch movies. Makeita concluded, "I respect the field I work in. I'm very blessed and humbled to have the opportunity to work with Dr. Thomas." She has been with Allied Healthcare Clinics since February 2008. Dr. Thomas said, "Makeita is an awesome, conscientious therapist who cares about our patients. She's always willing to learn new things. She has an open mind." "For me, it's about telling a story. We have patients who have suffered chronic and acute lower back and neck pain. When they are treated by Dr. Thomas with IDD Therapy®, miracles happen. Government from Berry College All-American in College 2006, second in the marathon All American in Cross Country 2007 Nicole Degner first visited Dr. Thomas as a patient in 2005 for shin splints. "He explained to me what was going on. A lot of times we think that we have pain in one place, and it doesn't originate there. The pain in my shins was from tight calves. He treated with muscle stripping and electrical stimulation. It worked out just great. It was uncomfortable, but it was worth it." In November 2008, Nicole started working for Dr. Thomas as his Online Marketer. Since then, she has worked on establishing Dr. Thomas' sites through organic marketing techniques. "I'm working on making our website as a resource on back and neck pain. I want there to be tips for the person at home," said Nicole. "I feel like my job is rewarding. I like helping people. People are skeptical about chiropractors. After working with Dr. Thomas, their opinions are changed. I see a lot of people in the running community work with Dr. Thomas and get results," she continued. As a top athlete, Nicole brings that perspective to Allied Healthcare, as well as her university and self-taught skills in social media and marketing. "Nicole is extremely knowledgeable. She's a big surprise in a small package. She's also very talented as a runner. She's brilliant. She's a little genius, an internet wizard," said Dr. Thomas.
Lisa Shannon, Orthopedic AssistantCentral Georgia Technical College Medical Assistant and Hemodialysis For 11 years Lisa worked at Coopers Automotive and when the plant closed, she decided to head down a new professional path. Lisa chose healthcare and pursued her new direction at Central GA Tech. At Dr. Thomas' office, Lisa helps the office remain efficient as she does a little bit of everything. You might see her doing paper work behind the desk or helping Dr. Thomas. Lisa is also persistent. After continued phone calls, resume submissions, and appointments, Lisa won Dr. Thomas over. She started as an intern and because of her quick learning and attentiveness to the patients, Lisa soon transitioned to full time staff. Lisa enjoys working and learning as she explained, "Dr. Thomas is a very, very good teacher. Just ask and he'll help you better understand anything." Lisa loves her family and sports. She is a huge Atlanta Falcons and Hawks fan. Her family keeps her busy with two sons, four step children and one granddaughter.
Shaquela Fears, Medical Assistant Javelin Technical Medical Assistant Shaquela is people person. She likes interacting and helping clients. After three years of customer service, she knew she wanted to continue working with the public and decided to enter the medical field "without the blood and guts," she clarified. Following her schooling she began as an intern for Dr. Thomas and with her initiative and hard work she quickly became part of the Allied Healthcare team. Shaquela enjoys working with Dr. Thomas and learning his chiropractic techniques. She explained, "He is totally different from other chiropractors. Dr. Thomas does more than adjustments and works with the muscles." She became a believer when she had a knee problem that could not be resolved by other chiropractors and treatments, but now after receiving care from Dr. Thomas, her knee problems are gone. Shaquela is getting her feet wet in chiropractic and plans on pursuing a RN degree. In her spare time she loves shopping and wearing fun shoes.
Shannon Phillips
Shannon was a longtime patient of Dr. Thomas before she started working at the clinic. She has been a runner since age 7 and started seeing the Running Doctor at age 10. She says, "he helped me maintain high mileage at a young age." Shannon's passion for running has made her curious about physical fitness and how the body works. Shannon is a recent graduate of Starr's Mill High School and will be attending UGA in the fall. She is in the ROTC program and is looking to study in either Exercise and Sports Science or Premed. Shannon wants to work with athletes and is enjoying her experience with Dr. Thomas.
